The Gudhi symbolizes Lord Rama’s victory and happiness on returning to Ayodhya after slaying Ravan. Since a symbol of victory is always held high, so is the gudi (flag). Read more here
After the procession & Gudi ubharne or hoisting, there were various dance & singing shows.
May you all always have Goddess Laxmi in your house :)

Small girls playing fugdi on the beats of dhol during the miravnuk or procession. They were enjoying themselves. :)

Maharashtrians also see the Gudhi as a symbol of victory associated with the conquests of the Maratha forces led by Chhatrapati Shivaji.
The miravnuk or procession had ladies dressed in the tradition attire of Kashta patayl or 9 yard sarees. The men folk wore kurta's with Fetha's or turbans.
This was a Dhangar(shepherd) group singing their folk songs. They had come specially from Kolhapur for this show.
After the procession & Gudi ubharne or hoisting, there were various dance & singing shows.
Check this cute girl. She was dancing along with each group, trying to copy the steps of all the didi's dancing. She captivated everyone more than the dancers :). Touch wood!! :D
Laxmi che paay. Footprints of Goddess Laxmi, a must on all doorsteps of Maharashtrian families.
May you all always have Goddess Laxmi in your house :)
