This book is about 20 enthusiastic people who are driven by ideas, hard work, dedication, passion to get them into reality into a business.
These people had no MBA, some aren't even from business families but they have gone from being startup companies to big businesses.

Over the last week was reading an interesting book: Connect the Dots by Rashmi Bansal. This is the 2nd book by Rashmi, the first being 'Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish'.

This book is about 20 enthusiastic people who are driven by ideas, hard work, dedication, passion to get them into reality into a business.
These people had no MBA, some aren't even from business families but they have gone from being startup companies to big businesses.
I got interested reading this introductory quote by Steve Jobs:
"You cant connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust... in something- your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." -Steve Jobs, Commencement address Stanford University (2005)
The book is divided into 3 sections:
- Jugaad- No formal training. Just observation, application of mind, because business in no Rocket Science
- Junoon- Driven by idea which different & its about making these dreams a reality
- Zubaan- Creative people need a platform, when a platform is created, these creative souls become 'entrepreneurs'
Some of my favourite stories were:
- Street Smart-Prem Ganapathy of Dosa Plaza: Since I have visited the Center One Dosa Plaza,Vashi & Sadguru hotel, Chembur, its interesting to read how this person who was new to the city started from dish washing to owner of a food chain, due to his simple philosophy--Good product, good service, give the customer what he would love to have with the best presentation, hygiene.
- Food for thought-N Mahadevan of Oriental Cuisines: You don't need degrees to build an empire. A professor can set up an empire stretching across cuisines & continents.
- Human touch-Hanmant Gaikwad of Bharat Vikas Group: An engineering students who took tuitions to support his fees, runs a facilities management firm(BVG) which maintains clients like Rashtrapati Bhavan. The firm is commited towars giving back to the society.
- Kitabu Keeda-R Sriram of Crossword: A bookworm who brought a new meaning to 'reading' by building India's largest bookstore chain.
- Electric Dreams-Chetan Maini of Reva Electric Car Company: Building something which is far ahead of its time & spreading it is trully a tough task. Wish I had read this 1year ago, would have bought a Reva car instead of a petrol one ;)
- Paper Tiger-Mahima Mehra of Haathi Chaap: Making unusual stuff out of unimaginable material like elephant poo & marketing it too requires dedication! Mahima has brought a new dimension to recycling & handmade paper.
- Truth Shall Prevail-Paresh Mokashi of 'Harishchandrachi Factory': I loved the movie. Have watched it 4times till now. Reading about its maker is thrilling.
- Call of the wild-Kalyan Verma a Wildlife Photographer: Thinking that you also want to live in the forest, watch animals all time, click photos & making it a reality is a different thing altogether. A Software professional who is a living sample of 'idiot', who is doing the same thing like me: 'My job is my hobby & im getting paid for it' ;)
Because it is these stories which will move and inspire the next generation to stay hungry and foolish.Get more information here: http://connectthedots.in/
