Author Interview : Jinal Chirag Shah of Children's Book Series, The Mystery Crackers

Congratulations Jinal on Releasing Book 3: The Ritzy Maartle of The Mystery Crackers Series! I have read all three and loved reading them out to my kids. You have creatively recreated The Mystery Crackers: Prash and Nish, the fraternal twins, and the town of Jhiljila.

Let's talk about how you created these books and I hope there are more coming up soon ...

Hey Nilima Mohite,
Thank you so much for reading all my Mystery Novels. It's a great pleasure when I get genuine readers like you. You have been very kind and extremely encouraging and supportive for my Writing. I am blessed to be your friend.

Prash and Nish were just born suddenly in my head one day and the rest is History. Yes, I am working on the fourth book in the Series: The Mystery Crackers: The Orka Hrimzika. Hope it receives as much love as the previous ones.

Read my Book Reviews of the books:

Q: What was the motivation to write a Children’s Book?

Ans: Only one ... Sakshi Karani and Jash Karani, my Creative Writing Students challenged me to write an interesting story, which was short and crisp, fast paced and would aid them in enhancing their Vocabulary, Story Writing Skills and numerous Creative Writing Skills. I am so thankful to them! It's because of them that Prash and Nish (The Mystery Crackers) came alive!

Q: The History legends and topics in each book are totally different. How did you research for each book?

Ans: Indeed! It was a long journey. My Mom - Mrs Falguni Doshi, my Brother - Mr Harsh Doshi and an amazing friend - Mr Hari Raja have helped me immensely right from sharing their brilliant ideas to critiquing my writing to doing thorough research for me. Research is fun yet extremely time consuming. We had used Google, howstuffworks.com, biography.com, Pinterest and our brains to get the stories flowing.

I have always been fascinated by English Literature and History (especially Indian History). I adored Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan, Emperor Akbar and their feats from my childhood. I remember ... an old Uncle (a Vaid) and a very close Famiy Friend from Dahanu - Saathe Vaid had told me numerous stories about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, various other Kings and Queens. I was enthralled by their bravery.

I wrote these mysteries surrounding our Kings, because I wanted the future generations to know about our real Heroes and learn something from their Heroic Feats

Q: How has your journey of Publishing the books been? Traditional or Self-Publishing.

Ans: It was an amazing journey with several challenges. I have Self-Published all three of my books. Initially, I had approached a few Traditional Publishers. But they were too busy publishing other books. So, I Self-Published mine.
I met some nasty people who would put me down just because, I was a 'girl' and 'a self-published Author'. Yet, lovely people came into my life who thoroughly guided me, stood by me and made sure that I would fulfill my dreams. They are too many to name, but I heartily Thank them for everything!

Q: How are you promoting or marketing your books?

Ans: I have met amazing Book Reviewers and Book Promoters like you, who are helping me promote my novels on various Social Media Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.

Q: Any special bouquets or brickbats you received for your books which are special to you?

Ans: I have always received a lot of love and encouragement from my Family, Friends, Creative Writing Students and their Parents. That's what pushes me to write beyond the mundane stuff and make them proud of me. I can add the word 'Author' before my name ... That's the most special gift given by everyone, especially my Loyal Readers!

Q: Any Fan moments you experienced as an Author?

Ans: Recently, I had been to Bhutan. There I met three teenage girls at a Café. They were thrilled to meet and chat with me, because I was an Author. That moment was very special and extremely cute.

Q: What are your plans in the future as an Author?

Ans: Write as many stories as I can and watch them go live on Amazon!

Q: Who is your favorite Author? Which is your favorite Book?

Ans: I love J K Rowling and her Harry Potter Series. She has inspired me to become a Writer!

Q: Any writing quirk you have? Do share.

Ans: Amazing ideas drop at me at 2. am. If I don't wake up and jot down those ideas, they will vanish away instantly.

Q: What advice would you give to young writers about writing their books?

Ans: There are innumerable creative individuals who have superb stories generating inside their minds. However, some of them either because they can't or they feel lazy or they don't have or know the technical skills for Writing ... end up not writing those wonderful stories.
My advise to them is just simple. Just keep on Writing and learn how to write better. There are many Creative Writing Online and Offline Courses. Even I teach Creative Writing. Do such courses, ask questions if you can't understand anything, seek help and guidance and become a pro at it. Most importantly READ! READ! and READ!
All the Best for your Writing. If any of you have written anything interesting, you are most welcome to post it on my Blog - https://themysterycrackers.wordpress.com
