Good day Everyone !

Book: The Adventures of Biplob the Bumblebee

We have been seeing the book: The Adventures of Biplob The Bumblebee for sometime now. We bought a copy. Now that school's are on a break due to Corona Lockdown, this book is a good way to discuss with kids how nature and all its beings are important for us.

The book features Biplob the Bumblebee who tries to solve problems for his plant friends and farmer friend. Biplob is a smart Bee. He is getting his own Book Series soon, I am sure of it.

Book: The Adventures of Biplob the Bumblebee

Story:

The Book has 3 stories featuring Biplob the Bumblebee and his garden.
- The Flying Pollen story explains how bees are instrumental in making plants grow through pollination. My kid didnt know this concept.
- Biplob The Water Farmer, gives us a lesson in water harvesting.
- Biplob Saves the Day shows how not all bugs and insects are harmful.

What I liked:

The book provides us the opportunity to talk with kids about simple things like water harvesting, how bugs and insects help us and more such topics. Plant life, how plants are important for us, life cycle of butterfly, plastic is harmful, solar energy, composting etc all these topics are taught in school curriculum. When you introduce kids the topics of bugs and insects, water harvesting, farming etc through stories, it opens up doors for discussion and imagination.

The story and language used is children friendly. Its just enough theory and fiction. The characters of Biplob the Bumblebee, Balram the farmer and all the flowers, insects add to make the story enjoyable.
Loved how each character is sketched out.

The illustrations are cute and make the story come alive. I was inspired by Biplob's sketch.
I am trying to make a DIY  planter out of an oil can. Cant match the illustration of Biplob :|

Simple virtues like kindness, selfless love, helping others, sharing etc is subtly included into the story.

I thought there will be 1 story in the book. When I saw 3 chapters I was surprised. But each story has a theme and I understood the need for 3 chapters in the book. Good thinking, Author Abhishek.
I am sure there is Volume 2,3,... coming soon. Looking forward to reading them all.

Growing your own food is now a necessity and a life skill. Also teaching kids to cook. We are fortunate to have our own home garden and we all enjoy working in the garden.
So after reading this book we are discussing why our Aaji (grandmother) makes ducts around big trees so that water seeps into soil. This way the tree gets more water and its root retain the water thus increasing water in water table.

We burn the coconut husks in evening to ward off mosquitoes. The ash that remains, we spread around tree roots. This stops insects and termites around our big trees. Natural pesticide and also nutrients for plants.

We started observing little eggs laid by ladybugs.  We have many butterflies in our garden. So now we are hunting for caterpillars who turn into butterflies.

So this book has made us all the more curious about nature and its clever ways.

What I wanted more:

Next Volumes please.
