Mumbai Marathon 2010

Hi Good day!
Since 2days feeling better after the jog at Mumbai Marathon 2010. Sorry dont get me wrong, didn't do the exceptional running of the full marathon-42Km, nor half marathon-21Km. We just did the Dream run-6Km or you could call it Dream walk :P.

Last 2years I had practiced just pace walking for more than a month. This year apart from gym & the trek haven't got any physical fitness training done. Still could run around 2Kms. Which I believe can be improved upon with consistent practice. We were representing our organization & apart from a few we all were running the Dream Run.

Hats off to the 3musketters of our organization who ran the Full marathon & completed in 4:30-5:30 min time span. Our 1hour of run-cum-walking was tiring in the sun.How they managed to run for such a distance & so long, the thought is making me breathless ;).

The slogan of the Mumbai Marathon is apt 'Feel the Spirit' ! Many people miss this 'spirit' thing & try to search for things like prizes, goody bags, entertainment, time pass, media attention, chasing celebrities, snaps clicking,.... There are other good things like the various events organized, the themes people take to, the awareness agenda's many groups try to spread, integrity, unity, teamwork, a lil socializing, having fun & fitness combined.

The whole idea of so many people working towards a common goal is truly amazing. You can feel the charge of energy in the air. I wanted to run the full 6Kms but after 2Km, my body just couldn't go & I was feeling sorry for not being fit enough. Such events really get out the true enthusiasm in people who are really Active, selfless, enthusiastic, go-getter spirited, team players, self-motivated,... :)

Was a gr8 experience overall. Next time will participate with more preparation.

Bye. tc. Check the pics :)

The start point.

The Brand ambassador for the Marathon: John Abraham.

The 'Run in costume' event. This group was promoting the 'Save water' theme.

Our group.

We created our own roads :)

There were many such bands & groups cheering the runners. This 1 was by the Indian Navy, they were singing 'Those were the best days of my life', perfect isnt it :)

Fascinated by the ceiling again & CST is my fav location for such old architecture.
The majestic building of BMC is at the moment under renovation.

Dont know the name of this building, but liked the cool colour combo of blue, navy blue, violet & pink.
UPDATE : Thanks to Sunil our blog reader. This building is called Jer Mahal, classified as a Grade III structure under the Heritage Rules in Mumbai.
Jer Mahal is a chawl system of (five) buildings, around 120 years old, built with the sole purpose of providing cheap accommodation to those who came to work in Mumbai. Check more about it.
